- "Now watch, Ruslan! This is how you get rid of someone in America."
- ―Pazar's final words.
Goran Pazar (Russian/Chechen: Горан Пазар) was a major antagonist in Barry, serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Monroe Fuches) of Season 1 and a posthumous antagonist in Season 3. He was portrayed by Glenn Fleshler.
Goran was a Chechen mob boss based in Los Angeles who hired Barry Berkman to carry out the killing of Ryan Madison as redemption for Ryan's ongoing affair with his wife.
Goran attempts to have Barry killed when Barry takes too long to kill Ryan. He has Fuches and Barry captured, but spares both when Barry carries out another hit for him in penance. Fuches convinces Goran to make war with the Bolivian mob. When this goes poorly, Goran blames Fuches and attempts, again, to have him killed. Barry intervenes, killing Goran along with some of his crew to rescue Fuches.
Biography[]
Background[]
Goran was born in Chechnya and became a part of the Chechen Mob. He married Oksana Pazar and later had a daughter named Natasha. Goran was eventually assigned to the Los Angeles Operation and flew to the States to begin his plans.
Working in LA[]
Goran at some point learned that his wife Oksana was cheating on him with local amateur actor Ryan Madison. He ordered a hit with the help of Barry Berkman who flew down to LA to help. Goran and his right hand man, NoHo Hank give him the information needed and tell him to make it quick.
Goran soon learns that Barry has befriended Ryan, leading him to send Hank and two other Chechens to preform the hit. Goran then has Barry and his handler, Monroe Fuches kidnapped in their hotel room and brought to the Pazar home. Barry and Fuches are brought before Pazar, who is mad that Barry killed one of his men and wants him to kill an informant for him. Barry refuses, even when the Chechens start torturing Fuches by tooth-filing. Barry reluctantly accepts, but the Chechens will keep Fuches until he completes the job.
While Barry works on the hit, Pazar informs Hank that they will get a new assassin, Stovka, and they are excited given his track record. Stovka arrives to stand guard on the garage where Fuches is held. Pazar instructs Stovka to kill both Barry and Fuches when Barry returns, panicking Fuches, who overheard the conversation. Pazar leaves the room but returns after hearing a gunshot, seeing Stovka killed himself.
Pazar dines with Fuches, where they both seem to bond over their possible actions against the Bolivian Mafia. Fuches suggests that Pazar could lure the leader of the Bolivians, Cristobal Sifuentes to Los Angeles by taking one of his houses and then he could kill him, which seems to intrigue Pazar.
Pazar meets with Fuches, Hank, and Barry to create a plan to attack a stash house with another marine, Taylor Garret. He is also mad at Hank for leaving behind the lipstick camera.
The next day, Pazar and Hank check the stash house massacre, praising Barry's actions. Pazar is told by Vacha the existence of Sally Reed and her connection to Berkman but Pazar shuts Vacha down and tells him to stop pursuing Barry.
Directly following the airstrip attack, Cristobal Sifuentes calls Pazar informing him about the two dead soldiers and tells him that he would've gladly shared the stash house if Goran had asked, but since his people were killed, they are now at war. Pazar, now knowing that the Bolivians are "super nice", he orders the death of Fuches who caused this.
Fuches arrives at Pazar's home to inform him of Barry's survival after it was believed he died during the raid. Pazar did not care to hear what Fuches had to say and told his henchman to tie Fuches to a car. He brings Vacha's brother, Ruslan in to torute and execute Fuches.
Death[]
Hank, fearing for Barry, contacted him about Pazar's upcoming attack leading to Barry coming to the Pazar residence. At the house, Pazar is angry to see that Ruslan wasted time building a pillory and decides to kill Fuches himself. Pazar raises his gun to shoot Fuches but Barry shoots him in the head first. Pazar, still barely alive sits down as the rest of the men in the room are gunned down before finally dying.
Personality[]
Pazar is a cruel and ruthless man who has no issues concerning the deaths of other people, allowing people to be murdered with no hesitation.
Relationships[]
NoHo Hank[]
Pazar worked closely with Hank during his time in LA and trusted him to handle hits. Pazar soon began building a level of anger towards Hank after Barry Berkman was hired to take out Ryan Madison due to Hank's failure to retrieve a lipstick camera from the car used during the hit and later his reluctance to kill Barry.
Barry Berkman[]
Pazar was fond of Barry for some time but quickly felt of Barry as more of a hinder to his operation than a benefit, having ordered two hits on Barry, neither being successful. Barry is later the one to kill Pazar.
Monroe Fuches[]
Pazar and Fuches have a very negative relationship with Pazar regularly torturing Fuches as a way to get Barry to kill his targets. Pazar decides to work with Fuches for a brief time to kill the Bolivian mafia's leader, Cristobal but when it is discovered that Sifuentes is nice, Pazar orders a hit on Fuches.
Pazar has Fuches captured and tortured once again but when it takes too long for him to be executed, Pazar tries to kill Fuches himself but fails as he is shot in the head by Barry before he could shoot Fuches.
