Akhmal (Russian: Ахмаль/Chechen: Ахмал) is a character in Barry. He is portrayed by Troy Caylak.

He is a member of the Chechen mafia, operating as NoHo Hank's right-hand man.

History

Chechen Mob

As a result of Barry's inability to assassinate Esther, NoHo Hank took Akhmal to kill Barry with a sniper rifle from a rooftop overlooking his room. Despite Barry sitting still at a desk only a relatively short distance away and completely unaware, Akhmal, even with his rifle set up on a bipod, missed so badly that Barry did not immediately notice he was being shot at (multiple times). Akhmal admitted to Hank that he did not know how to use a gun but that their power dynamic prevented him from refusing. Barry shot Akhmal in the shoulder and confronted the two on the rooftop; tired of killing, he offered to train the Chechens, including Akhmal, so they could do their own killing.

Capture and Murder by the Bolivians

Akhmal is captured in Bolivia, alongside Yandar and NoHo Hank, by Elena Sifuentes' cartel while attempting to reunite with Cristobal. He and Yandar find a way to escape, but before they can rescue Hank they are discovered by the Bolivians, who feed them to their pet panther while Hank listens to their deaths helplessly in the adjoining room. The use of a panther to kill Akhmal and Yandar may be a callback to the story of the Bolam-Deela told to Fuches in Chechnya.
